Vanguard Homes, a Triangle-based company chosen as one of only 7
builders in the country to participate in the Environmental
Protection Agency's WaterSense™ pilot program for new homes, has
received the first ever WaterSense™ label on a new home. WaterSense™
labeled homes by Vanguard are designed to be at least 20 percent
more water efficient than homes currently being built under
traditional standards, saving homeowners more than 10,000 gallons of
water per year. Vanguard's "Sensibly Green Concept Home" in the
Briar Chapel development of Chapel Hill is the first home in the
country to receive the EPA WaterSense™ label and has also achieved
Gold level certification from the Green Home Builders of the
Triangle.
Water conservation features in the home include WaterSense™
qualified dual flush toilets and filtered water faucets, in addition
to low-flow shower heads and a solar hot water heater. ENERGY STAR®
rated clothes washers, dishwashers, a whole house filtration system
and a hot water circulation pump work in harmony to save water. The
exterior landscaping is maintained using rainwater captured in
cisterns. Signage in the concept home is used to call attention to
these and many other green features.
Come take a look! The home is available for viewing on the
following schedule: Open Wed. & Sunday 1:00–6:00 pm; other days
10:00 am–6:00 pm.
