Project and Materials Manager

Southern Energy, a North Carolina-based energy efficiency and solar power company, seeks a full-time Project and Materials Manager team member to join our fast-growing team.

Location(s): Based in Morrisville NC, minor travel required.

Primary Responsibilities include:

§   Creatively manage work load and customer expectations with team skills, crew availability, and budget.

§   Provide direction, support, and scheduling to solar installation teams including first line supervision for 10+ positions.

§   Order materials and supplies, manage inventory, and track purchases.

§   Support job costing estimates.

§   Seek out new provider sources, negotiate directly with vendors, and build vendor relationships.

§   Provide status updates, track invoices and team member time sheets.

§   Prepare reports and coordinate purchases/payments with accounting team.

Required Skills/Experience:

§   Minimum of three (3) years experience in scheduling and materials management, preferably in building/construction sector.

§   Must possess a high level of competence with computers, MS Excel, Access and Word.

§   Extremely well-organized and detail-oriented.

§   Mathematical aptitude and basic understanding of accounting principles.

§   Ability to read and comprehend builder plans and blueprints.

§   Excellent command of written and spoken English.

§   Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

§   Must be physically and mentally available to customers, builders, and team beyond normal work hours.

§   Ability to take initiative and work independently while also collaborating in a team environment.

§   Valid, clean drivers' license and willingness to travel to builder sites using own transportation (mileage reimbursed at standard rate).

§   Excellent interpersonal communication skills with both internal team and clients.

§   Ability to work as part of a team in a dynamic, open, fast-paced environment.

Preferences:

§   Preference for applicants with background in electrical, plumbing, residential construction, or solar installation.

§   Knowledge of Kanban inventory systems and familiarity with electrical and/or plumbing parts and code(s) also desired.

Working knowledge/experience in managing multiple crews in construction environment ideal.
