How does walking to work equate to energy savings?

Walk and your commute to work is free. People who live within two miles of their office still spend $384 a year to drive back and forth. If just 20 people in every state did it, we'd save more than 64,000lbs of harmful chemicals from being released into the air. That's roughly the amount of toxic air pollutants emitted by industrial facilities within Washington, D.C. each year.
